PLASENCIA CIGARS UNVEILS EL AÑO DE LA CABRA, THE 2027 LIMITED-EDITION CHINESE ZODIAC CIGAR
The seventh release in the celebrated Zodiac collection honors the Year of the Goat through five generations of craftsmanship, exceptional tobacco, and a deep connection to the land.
Plasencia Cigars, a world-renowned premium tobacco grower and maker of award-winning cigars with a tobacco tradition dating back to 1865, announces El Año de la Cabra (Year of the Goat), the seventh annual release celebrating Chinese New Year. Limited to 6,000 individually numbered boxes of ten cigars, the 2027 edition features an elegant 6¼ x 60 Perfecto Figurado, with an MSRP of $60.00 per cigar or $600 per box.
Grounded in stillness. Guided by instinct. Destined to endure. Inspired by the goat's symbolism of harmony, resilience, and quiet strength, El Año de la Cabra reflects the Plasencia family's enduring philosophy: exceptional cigars begin with respect for the land, patience in cultivation, and a generations-old understanding of nature.
Handcrafted in Danlí, Honduras, El Año de la Cabra features a Honduran wrapper grown in the Azacualpa terroir in Olancho, a binder from the Jamastrán Valley, and a carefully selected combination of Honduran and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, including organically grown tobacco from Estelí, Nicaragua. The blend offers a rich progression of toasted oak and espresso, followed by dark chocolate, raisins, and earthy undertones, before developing into notes of walnut, cinnamon, clove, and a lingering toasted sweetness.
“The goat represents a quiet but powerful strength, one that comes from patience, balance, and an instinctive connection to nature,” said Néstor Andrés Plasencia, fifth generation. “Those qualities are deeply connected to how our family has approached tobacco for more than 160 years. With El Año de la Cabra, we wanted to create a cigar that honors that philosophy, bringing together the character of our Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos in an expression that is both distinctive and deeply rooted in the land.”
The presentation is equally significant. The cigars are elegantly presented in a red lacquered wooden box, accented with gold detailing and intricate patterns inspired by the curves of a goat’s horns. Drawing inspiration from the traditional Chinese hóngbāo (紅包), or red envelope, each box includes individual cigar gift boxes that celebrate prosperity, generosity, and the spirit of sharing associated with the Lunar New Year.
“Our Chinese Zodiac collection has become an opportunity to express Plasencia's creativity and innovation while celebrating traditions that resonate with cigar enthusiasts around the world,” said Ed Bello, Chief Executive Officer of Plasencia Cigars. “El Año de la Cabra continues that journey, bringing together thoughtful design, exceptional tobacco, and the craftsmanship that defines our family-owned brand.”
