Product Overview

Paul Garmirian, originally from Lebanon, moved to the United States in 1965 after attending school in England for four years. After receiving his Ph.D. in International Politics, he became a Professor as well as a Real Estate Broker for the next twenty years. Paul Garmirian had been an amateur smoker for forty years and he decided to culminate his knowledge into a comprehensive book on cigars entitled “The Gourmet Guide To Cigars”, in 1990. It was the first book ever to be released that divided cigars into Havana and Non-Havana, and it also introduced Paul Garmirian to the cigar industry. Since then, the book has been re-printed nine times and even translated into Spanish in 1993. The seven years that Paul Garmirian dedicated to researching his book paid off, and he made many contacts in the industry, including Hendrik Kelner, President of Tabacos Dominicanos, and Eliado Diez, his chief blender. These famous men are responsible for such famous lines as Avo, Davidoff and Griffin.

After experimenting with different blends, Kelner and Paul Garmirian began to agree on blends that they felt were suitable for the new Paul Garmirian cigar. The initial release of the Paul Garmirian cigar came at Georgetown Tobacco in Washington, D.C. in November, 1990. Although this was when the first people got to try the cigar, the first “official” release of the Paul Garmirian cigar was at a cigar dinner in Chicago in 1991. The line originally had six sizes, but has since grown to an astounding twenty one sizes, from a small four inch cigar all the way up to a gigantic nine inch monster. In 1999, the Paul Garmirian Gourmet Series II was launched with only two sizes, but in the next two years, two other sizes were added. The sizes are as follows: Belicoso Fino, Connoisseur, Robusto and Torpedo. Next up for Paul Garmirian was the Reserva Exclusiva, which used ten year old tobacco and was introduced in 2001. The year 2005 was the 15th Anniversary for Paul Garmirian and the release of this commemorative full bodied cigar was instantly a success. In fact, the Paul Garmirian 15th Anniversary Celebration recently received an 89 rating in Cigar Aficionado and was awarded Cigar of the Week on March 24th, 2008.

Paul Garmirian has taken a unique approach in the development of his company, as well as his cigars. We respect and admire Mr. Garmirian for his dedication to the cigar world, and his hard work has definitely paid off. The quality that each one of his cigars has is unsurpassed.
